Mayfly Taxonomist
Mayflies are one of the oldest insect groups that play a crucial role in assessing the health of freshwater ecosystems. I am a passionate mayfly taxonomist dedicated to unraveling the intricate mysteries of these ephemeral insects. With a keen eye for detail and a love for the natural world, my journey into the realm of mayfly taxonomy has been both enlightening and rewarding. Armed with a deep understanding of their biology, morphology, and ecological significance, I delve into the delicate intricacies that define each species within the fascinating order of Ephemeroptera. My work extends beyond mere classification, as I strive to contribute valuable insights into the ecological roles and evolutionary adaptations of mayflies. Through meticulous research and observation, I aim to shed light on these short-lived yet crucial members of aquatic ecosystems, ultimately enriching our understanding of biodiversity and the interconnected web of life.
Research Interests

As a mayfly taxonomist, my research interests are deeply rooted in the exploration of Ephemeroptera. My primary focus lies in understanding the taxonomy, systematics, and biogeography of mayflies. Delving into the diverse world of these ephemeral insects, I aim to unravel the complexities of their classification, exploring the subtle morphological and genetic variations that distinguish different species.
The heart of my research beats strongly in the Western Ghats, where I initially concentrated my efforts to decipher the unique mayfly fauna inhabiting this region. Over time, my exploration has expanded to other regions of India and the broader Oriental realm, casting a wide net to comprehend the distribution patterns and evolutionary relationships of mayflies across diverse landscapes.
Beyond the meticulous classification of species, my research is driven by a broader ecological perspective. I seek to elucidate the ecological roles that mayflies play in aquatic ecosystems, understanding their interactions with other organisms and the environmental factors that shape their distribution. By contributing to the larger understanding of aquatic macroinvertebrates, I aspire to shed light on the intricate web of life in freshwater habitats.
This journey of discovery is not confined to academic circles alone. Through this research, I endeavor to foster connections with fellow researchers, providing a collaborative platform for sharing knowledge, resources, and insights. The goal is not only to advance the field of mayfly taxonomy but also to contribute meaningfully to the broader understanding of biodiversity and ecological dynamics in freshwater ecosystems.
